Edam cheese, or Edammer for short, has been traded from the city of Edam since the Golden Age, making it famous all over the world. The well-known colour of the cheese is red. This is because it is given a cheese rind of red paraffin for export. But the cheese is sold with a yellow colour.

 

Edam has a somewhat spicy smell and an accessible taste with fairly salty undertones. It is made from partly skimmed, pasteurised milk and therefore contains relatively little fat. This baby cheese is made according to the Edam recipe.
