What started as a new challenge for his dairy farm, evolved into a top tourist attraction with over one million visitors a year. Owner Henri Willig about the growth of his company:
"In 1974, my wife Riet and I took over my parents’ dairy farm called 'de Jacobs Hoeve'. It did not take long for me to realise I wanted more, so I decided to take a course in cheese making. This turned out to be a brilliant move. The panoramic polder landscape and the traditionally made cheese proved to be appealing, especially to tourists. I can vividly remember 3 March 1975, when – quite unexpectedly – a busload of tourists arrived at our farm. We were completely unprepared!"
